welding with standard EN 1090 Exc 3

In the specifications of the customer of Franki Grondtechnieken was mentioned that all the welding must comply with standard EN 1090 Exc 3.
Franki Grondtechnieken was not in possession of this certificate, so they went looking for someone who had it.  They contacted ADF TIB.

The whole piles could not be drilled into the ground. Different tube pieces must be used. Each time a piece of tube was drilled in the ground, a new piece of tube was welded on top. After the welding, the pile was further drilled in the ground.

The mission of ADF TIB was making the connecting weld between the pipe sections.

ADF TIB was certified to execute the works. Before the works could start, some preparations were made.

Preparatory phase:

  • Establish Data Welding Book: this document is crucial in executing welding work. It must always be approved by the client before the welding can start.
  • Establish pre-final file: in this file all matters which are require for an EN1090 exc3 final file are mentioned.
This file is added with the necessary documents during the project. These show that the work is conducted according to the standard.

Execution phase:

  • Tube pieces DN 300 thickness  8 mm in Steel S355
  • Prepare pipe pieces (apply chamfers)
  • Welding of the tube pieces
  • UT weld check (Ultrasonic) 20% on all welds, acc. EN1090 exc3.

Final phase:

  • Finishing End-file
  • Validation End-file by customer

Resultaat:

  • No welding faults
  • Great satisfaction of customer on the implementation of the welding
  • Great satisfaction of customer on the final file
  • Very positive satisfaction survey completed by the customer
