Replacement of a 15M 36’’ incl. compensator

On the site of Arcelor-Mittal Ghent, ADF has renewed a 15m 36" piece. This in a time span of only 32 hours.
This tube was located at a height of 16 meters and was located between 2 gas pipes.

In the assignment the following tasks were accomplished:

  •          Prefabrication of the tube at the workplace located in Ghent
  •          Delivery of the tube to the company for the paintwork
  •          Disassembly of the old pipe
  •          Placement of a shell with a flange
  •          Finishing the welding of the shell
  •          Placement of a pipe with compensator
  •          Removal of the roller bearings
  •          Placement of the PTFE-slide supports

Mammoet provided a 70t crane on site because the pipe needed to be carefully removed. It was located between two gas lines that were in service.

The company OIL was responsible for the paintwork. They have coated the tube internally within 5 hours and applied a 4-layer system externally to the customer's requirements.
